Hi,

I haven't settled on a name for my project yet but I'll use Cyclonic Beads for the time being.

The challenge I encountered so far is not how to create a cyclonic effect within a rectangular column - I think I can achieve that. I have received delivery of some powerful fans and I will test them this evening at the tutorial.

The problem I had last week was how to control a 12V power-hungry CPU fans using the Arduino board. I can't use the Arduino board to drive these fans as they run on 12V and require 500mA current each. I still want to be able to read an analogue input (such as a sensor), process the input and drive the fans using the Arduino. I used a relay last week but it couldn't handle rapid switching of PWM and it short-circuited. I had to find an alternative and after searching for a while found the solution.

I am now using a transistor (eg TIP120,TIP122) for switching and amplifying the voltage from 5V to 12V. I have attached a circuit diagram for my set up. It works very well. Let me know what you think.
