The Psycho Curtain Project Phase 4

Well there is nothing like finally getting the project nearly completed and discovering that the concept may not function how it was intended. This is the reality of theory v's practice. I'm not sure if my faulty engineering has an easy solution but will bring it in on wed to get some advice.

If I don't shake the curtain enough, the retraction mechanism will work in the allotted time. However if i get the curtain to shake more the retraction mechanism releases prematurely. One of the problems is t… Continue

The Psycho Shower Curtain - Stage 3

At this stage thanks to Justin's help in programming the arduino as a 'state machine', I can now focus on completing the actual shower curtain mechanism.

Last night I found a shower in the building in the wood working lab and after measuring the width of the curtain, I will now need to cut down the protoype to fit. This is always an issue when not thinking about the target location. I hoped that the measurement of 900mm would be safe when the plans were originally were drawn up.After more resear… Continue

The 'Shakin' Curtain Propject -post prototype demo- Stage 2

Stage 2
After getting feedback from everyone which I found valuable I've now modified my design to make it less complicated by dropping the LCD clear curtain idea(too expensive), replacing it with a spring loaded retractable curtain to make the user be aware of the shower's 'desire' to have them out after 4mins.Hopefully this will be dramatic in its action.

The consequences of changing this design have also made the Moire pattern idea more difficult as I would have to retract both the st… Continue
