Format for Tutorial Blog Postings

As you should already know, part of your assessment will include a number of regular tutorial exercises, each of which you will need to document, via the infodevice2008 site.

Each of these exercises essentially equates to an electronic circuit.  Additionally, there will be one or more concepts that relate to the circuit, that you will need to understand.

You will need to show both that you have understood the concept that the tutorial highlighted (for example the correct way to interface a pushbutton switch to the Arduino) as well as show evidence that you got the circuit to work correctly.

One way to do this is to create a simple movie.  Grab your phone camera, or preferably a higher quality one, and film your circuit in action.  Narrate what's going on in the film, e.g.  "You can see here that when I press the button, the Arduino correctly responds to this input.  Look here at this schematic of the circuit and you will see that I've used a pull-up resistor to ensure that the input signal is driven high".  (For example).  Keep the movie to 1-2 minutes, and post it on your page as you would any other item.  Remember to tag it with the special keyword I provide for that particular keyword.  Creating a video sharing account (for example revver, youtube, etc.) and uploading your movie to there, later to embed it in your blog post is a good idea (in fact the only way to do it on Ning, to my knowledge.)

Another way to do this is to create a 'normal' blog posting- ie text, images, and possibly a video.  This is the way to go if you're not comfortable with the production of movies.

In any case, you will need to produce an easy to read tutorial posting that demonstrates to us that you've both understood the concept(s) and managed to get the circuit to work.

These exercises will be given marks along the following lines:

0: Not Satisfactory
1: Satisfactory
2: Wow!

In other words, you get nothing for a 'fail', 1 mark for satisfying the requirements, and 2 for an outstanding effort.  This mark includes the quality of the tutorial blog post.

If you have any questions regarding what is required for this assessment, please send me a comment on Ning.
