Is it possible t upload Flash content to Ning - for example a swf that references other local files - or would I need to give the URL of another site in my posting?

I am not sure what sort of content you are looking for. Normal EMBED works fine (e.g. YouTube, Many Eyes visualizations, SlideShare, ...) Do you have a specific example?
